Mold

Mold is a growing concern and a basement is a great place for mold to grow. Mold and mildew are musty smelling fungi that thrive in moist conditions. We cannot make claims about mold before or after the SaniDry is installed, but one thing is for sure – keeping humidity down reduces the chances for mold to grow. In general, mold will not grow at less than 50% relative humidity! Of course, any groundwater, plumbing or other leaks should be fixed, as part of a strategy to eliminate mold.

Mold spores will certainly irritate someone with allergies. The number one allergen however, is the fecal matter of dust mites. Dust mites don’t drink water, but absorb it out of the air through their skin. In order to live, dust mites need relative humidity over 50%. The SaniDry unit will reduce the relative humidity below 50% and dust mites will die off.

SaniDry Basement Air System is a powerful and effective dehumidifier – big enough to do the job. It will dry the air and automatically drain the water through a hose, so that you never have to empty it, like a conventional dehumidifier. The SaniDry will take three times the water out of the air as a typical dehumidifier, yet uses the same energy.

Filter the Air
The SaniDry unit has a two stage filter system to keep the air clean. A prefilter for large dust particles rinses clean as needed, and a second, easy to replace, slide-in-filter (yellow), takes out particles as small as two microns.

The SaniDry has a powerful blower to draw the damp musty air in and move the dry, clean air back out into the basement. The SaniDry unit can stand alone in a finished or unfinished basement. Here the unit is ducted into a finished area with the air returning via existing air pathways connecting the spaces.

A SaniDry Model CSB Crawl Space and Basement Air System installed in your crawl space will keep humidity down, so odors go away and mold will not grow. The SaniDry is capable of reducing the relative humidity below 50% in any crawl Space up to 5000 square feet.

Energy Efficiency and $avings
The SaniDry Basement Air System has 10 times the cold surface area of an average dehumidifier and a very unique heat exchange core. This makes it ultra efficient! In fact, the SaniDry can remove three times the water out of the air, while using the same 6.8 amps of energy.

Dry air is less costly and easier to heat and air condition. A full 30% of an air conditioner's load is to remove humidity. By starting with dry air, you will saveon air conditioning costs, due to your SaniDry unit!

Venting to-or-from the outside

When trying to dry an interior space, you never want to leave windows or vents open, or use a fan to blow air in or out. If you blow air out, new unconditioned air from the exterior will replace it, entering from somewhere in the building envelope. This new unconditioned air will need to be heated, cooled and dehumidified to be comfortable, adding substantial "hidden" costs to your heating and cooling bills.

Keep windows, doors and vents to the outside closed. The best way to dry a space out, is to dry the air in it - and that's what the SaniDry Basement Air System does!

If there is no way to drain SaniDry in your basement by gravity, a condensate pump (shown to left) can be installed to drain the water out of your home.

Simply set the humidistat to the desired setting and the SaniDry unit automatically does the rest. A blower switch can be left on, to constantly circulate the air, as an option

A couple drops of SAE20 non-detergent oil in the tubes on the back of the unit each year is all the maintenance required for many, many years of performance.

Old crawl space thinking included dirt floors, vents to the outside, and insulation in the floor. These antiquated methods have failed homeowners drastically. Todays technology involves the CleanSpace system isolating the house from the earth completely, and sealing off outside air from getting in. The Crawl-O-Sphere Air System draws dry conditioned air from the first floor of your home and adds it to your crawl space. The dry air keeps your crawl space warm, dry, & healthy!

A round hole is cut in your floor somewhere upstairs, and a duct is run from a special floor grill down into the crawlspace. The Crawl-O-Sphere unit is mounted in between your floor joists and plugged in. Proper air flow is adjusted by the installer.

Using some of your upstairs air to condition your crawl space adds almost nothing to your heating and cooling bills since the air never leaves the building envelope. And, at just 18 watts, it is quiet and energy efficient!

NOTE: job conditions and upstairs air quality can vary, and results can not be warranted. The Crawl-O-Sphere is for homes with central air conditioning. If dehumidification is necessary, then a SaniDry Crawl Space Air System should be considered.
